UI Foot and Ankle Fellowship
(1) One-Year Position available for 2011 - 2012
The Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is pleased to offer a one-year fellowship in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery. Under the direction of Ned Amendola M.D., John E. Femino M.D., and with faculty including Phinit Phisitkul M.D., J. Lawrence Marsh M.D., Todd McKinley M.D. and James Nepola M.D., this fellowship offers an outstanding diversity of experience in all areas of adult and adolescent foot and ankle surgery including sports medicine, trauma, and reconstruction of the foot and ankle. Fellows will be exposed to a wide variety of surgical techniques including: Total ankle arthroplasty and treatment of degenerative joint problems, deformity correction, minimal invasive and open fracture fixation, arthroscopic surgery of the ankle and foot, current approaches to soft tissue problems, and limb salvage including the use of hybrid, circular and spatial frame constructs for deformity correction. Participation in all customary academic activities of the department and completion of at least one publishable research project are expected. There are multiple foot and ankle specific research opportunities available.
