For Consultation / Referrals

Patients with musculoskeletal tumors can be quite complicated, possibly requiring multiple imaging studies, diagnostic interventions, and definitive surgery.  Uncertainty and anxiety surrounding a potential diagnosis of a malignancy is rightfully an extremely difficult time in the lives of the patient and loved ones.  We prefer to be involved as early as possible with the decision-making and management of these patients to help guide a timely referral and appropriate use of resources.  Our goal is to assist you in making this process as efficient and simple as possible for you and your patients.

Often there is a question of whether a referral to the University is appropriate or if advanced radiologic studies are needed.  Occasionally radiographically benign entities can be managed remotely at significant convenience to the patient.  Other times an expedited referral is needed.  Our orthopaedic oncologists are happy to review any clinical concerns or uncertainties you may have.  Please send a cover letter explaining the clinical question along with films or discs of recent imaging studies (x-ray, bone scan, CT, MRI) and accompanying reports to:
