Clinical and Research Interests

  • Inpatient: Supervise the care of an active Orthopaedic inpatient service with an average census of 7 to 20 patients (primarily adult reconstructive surgery).
  • Outpatient: Conduct three outpatient clinics per week (seeing approximately 60-70 patients per week) - 1) cervical spine, 2) hip reconstruction, and 3) knee reconstruction.
  • Other: Provide in house consultation and surgery for complex reconstructive joint problems at the Iowa City Veterans Administration Hospital.
  • Spine Cord Injury
  • Knee Arthritis

Current Projects

  • Randomized Controlled Trial to Compare Posterior Cruciate Sparing Versus Posterior Cruciate Substitution in Total Knee Arthroplasty (Committee A)
  • The Knee Registry: Measuring and Improving the Quality of Care in Knee Surgery (Committee A)
