For nearly 100 years The University of Iowa has been a center for excellence in orthopaedic patient care, research, and teaching. Today, the Department continues to advance the specialty of Orthopaedics through the efforts of a large group of talented orthopaedic surgeons, physiatrists, scientists, engineers, clinical fellows, residents and staff.
The University of Iowa Medical Center and the Orthopaedics Department are located in Iowa City, a town of about 60,000 people in the eastern part of Iowa. This farm is within a few miles of the Medical Center.

Despite it's location in a small town in a rural agricultural state, the Department sees over 50,000 patients in it's clinics each year.
And does well over 5,000 orthopaedic operations.
